A typical electric ascender consists of three main parts: the ascender unit, the remote control, and the charger.

Electric Ascender Troubleshooting and Solutions

  • Fault cause: The start button was not pressed.
  • Explanation and solution: After powering the ascender on, it is only connected to the power and performs a self-check. None of the operational components are functionable until the start button is pressed.

  • Fault causes
    1. Low battery power
    2. Overheating protection function activated
  • Explanation and solution
    1. If the device emits a single beep every 10 seconds, it indicates the battery power is low. Stop using the device, power it off, and charge it as soon as possible. The device can be used normally after charging.
    2. If the device emits four beeps every 2 seconds, it indicates the device is in overheating protection mode. Stop using the device, power it off, and allow it to cool down. The device can be used normally after cooling.

    1. Small rotation angle of the handle
    2. Possible overload
  • Explanation and solution
    1. The lowering lifting speed is related to the rotation angle of the handle. The larger the rotation angle, the faster the speed. If the speed is slow, try increasing the rotation angle.
    2. When the lifted object exceeds the rated load, the speed will decrease even if the handle is rotated to the maximum angle. Prolonged use under these conditions can cause the device to overheat, accelerate component wear, and trigger unnecessary protective measures. If possible, divide the load and lift separately or choose an alternative lifting method.

  • Explanation and solution
    1. If the device emits two beeps every 2 seconds, it indicates the battery power is low. Charge the device promptly.
    2. After prolonged use or overloaded operation, the overheating protection function may be triggered. In this case, the device will emit four beeps every 2 seconds, and the lifting operation will stop. Only the descending function can be used in this state.
    3. If the device emits seven beeps every 1 second, it indicates the overload protection function is activated, and the lifting operation will stop. Only the descending function can be used in this state.

After the alarm beeps, the lifting operation stops and only the lowering function can be used. It is essential to descend promptly and stop using the device. The specific cause of the alarm should be determined based on the number of beeps and the corresponding issue.

  • Fault cause: The rope is not properly secured on the rope wheel.
  • Explanation and solution: When the rope is slack, it needs to be pre-tensioned to generate sufficient friction. If the rope slips, tighten both ends of the rope and slowly operate the device until the rope is taut. Once the load is suspended, increase the speed.

The electric ascender contains a lithium battery, thus should be stored in a cool, dry place at a temperature of 5~25°C. Even if not used for a long time, the battery should be fully charged at least every three months. "A yearly inspection and maintenance of the device is suggested to ensure optimal performance and safety.
